Greetings
I will have two performances in Japan in early June. The first is on June 2nd at 7:00PM in Osaka at a temple made famous from a Bunraku story that took place there. It will be a duo concert with shakuhachi master Kurahashi Yoshio, and Tsugaru shamisen player Hiroshi Kubo. There will also be a one person Bunraku performance by Masaya Kiritake. The concert is at Emma-do, Saiho-ji temple, Shimoderamachi, Naniwa-ku, Osaka.
Then on June 7 at 5:30, I will perform a duo concert with Yamada-ryu koto player Reikano Kimura in Saitama, near Tokyo. This will be a mostly contemporary music concert with one koten piece. http://g-aroma.jp/

You must realize that the perspective is different if the concert is your work (and vice versa). The rest of us only wish that our priorities worked that way.

I fear this hallowed rule is lost on the younger generation.

Apparently so. No money? No time? No transport? Still have to go to the concert!

I once skipped out of class in High School to see Ted Nugent. I'd surely do the same for a Nyoraku concert!

Yeah, wish I could call in sick, but I can't do that to my co-workers... I'm the only full-time teacher at my school, and the front desk girls would have a heck of a time figuring out what to do if I wasn't there. Next time though : )

Maybe you should get your school to put on a Nyoraku concert!

I skipped my highschool graduation in 94' to go to a Violent Femmes concert at Ontario place (in Toronto, Canada). It rained horribly, but I had a great time.

I've wondered about those who attended Violent Femmes North Pole concert. I read about it, but the thought didn't cross my mind until now that that was one dedicated audience.

Not a bad idea, not enough room though.... Toyohashi does need some shakuhachi concerts though. I now know some of the shakuhachi community here. Maybe I can talk them into setting something up; that would be awsome. I'll let you all know it something transpires.
