For those who may not know:

That's John Kaizan Neptune, who, back in the day (mid 70's, I think) matriculated at the University of Hawaii, because of the surfing. While studying there (who knows what, at that point?), he heard a shakuhachi. The rest is history, as they say...

As a student pointed out in my advanced workshop the other day: a Yuu is perfect for playing in the ocean, it may be adapted into a snorkel and even, after a hard day of snorkeling, into a bong.

I am working at getting a better class of students.
