Shakuhachi speech in Kyoto

Hello shakuhachi people.

If you happen to be in the Kyoto area, I am doing a speech for the Japan Foundation at the National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto Sunday the 15th September. The speech will begin at 14:00.

The title of the speech is: The Shakuhachi in an International Context: The 'Back to the Origin Movement'

I will go through how the shakuhachi was introduced to the world outside Japan and on how it became the most popular Japanese instrument before talking about the new ji-nashi shakuhachi boom, which will then briefly include some of my research results on the topic from my fieldwork stay in Japan.

The speech in in Japanese only. Info: http://www.jpf.go.jp/j/others_j/news/0708/08-05.html
