Fine pieces of silver art

A few months ago I asked a jewelry designer for help because I had been unsuccessfully searching for a nice SHAKUHACHI silver pendant for a necklace.  After a lot of talking and email corresponding, with explanations, suggestions, pictures, sketches, design adjustments a.s.o. I was quite proud an happy to hold the result of our work in my hands yesterday. I thought it is worth sharing the joy about the outcome of that co-operation, so I quickly took some (not so good) pictures.

This is one of two different versions we made:

The SHAKUHACHI pendant is made of Sterling Silver. Length: 42mm/1.65 inches. The shape and the details are fully adapted to an original SHAKUHACHI bamboo flute. We have designed two different versions (the pic above shows version no. 2):

1. The five fingering holes are bored normally, and a KINKO style UTAGUCHI frame is engraved

and

2. each of the five fingering holes is set up with a dark Sapphire of about 2mm in diameter. A small piece of  black high-grade wood inlay is used for the KINKO style UTAGUCHI.

The pendant is held by a black caoutchouc cord with a silver clasp.

Some more pictures with details:

Please let me know what you think about these pieces of silver art.

I wish I would have found this instrument much earlier in my life. But I didn´t know that I was searching for it all those years.

Re: Fine pieces of silver art

That's cool. Are you thinking of manufacturing them. I would buy one and I'm sure other people would as well.

Very beautiful.
Is it for you or Ela - or both ?

(By the way, does the Artist make them for "fat" necks as well ?)

Re: Fine pieces of silver art

Thanks for your comment, Brian!

Well, at the moment these pieces are  smile MY smile  unique ones.

But yes, I surely could let them be reproduced or manufactured in a series if more people were interested.

I will speak about this with my jewelry designer/maker.

Re: Fine pieces of silver art

Hi Ronnie Sensei,

the pendants are for me. It's my birthday gift for myself!

But, who knows.  If I let them be reproduced in a series, then I would think about ...... maybe Xmas wink . We'll see.

Do you like the design?

Ronnie,

I'm sure that caoutchouc cords can be made long enough for everybody.

Hi Mike, I like that it's an old Kinko style. Looks like #3 is a bit sharp too! smile

Re: Fine pieces of silver art

Well, since it looks like orders are being dictated, you should add me to the list. Would I be correct in assuming that the jeweler created a cast for the piece? If so, that should simplify 'production'.
And since my birthstone is saphire, what more reason could I find for wanting one. Oh, and if anyone is interested tomorrow is my birthday. So, happy birthday to Mike (a little late) and to me (a spot early).

Re: Fine pieces of silver art

Thank you very much Perry - for your kind critique wink

Thank you Brian, BrianP, Jean and nomaD43 (happy birthday to you nomaD43!) for expressing your interest in the silver pendants.

What I know definetly up to now is, that the re-production of the pendants will not be a problem at all.

The next important facts to know about are prices, production and delivery times, costs for shipping and possible payment methods.

I will let you know more about that soon, but please give me some more time.

Brian (Tairaku), would you like me to make a new posting in the Buy/Sell section when I know more about these facts? So we could keep this 'Shakuhachi Art Gallery' free from that kind of pure business matters.

I'll come back to you soon.

Mike
