Hi,
I study tozan-ryu with Sozan Kariya in Paris. I am currently working on two honkyoku from Tozan Nakao, "Asa no umi" and "Asa Midori". My teacher plays wonderfully but does not want to be recorded, a choice that I fully understand and respect. However I would very much like to have a reference, I believe it would help me a great deal to better understand the musicality and the flow of the piece.
I have heard about a series of recordings "Tozan Ryu Honkyoku Instruction Recording", listed on komuso.com (http://www.komuso.com/albums/Tozan_Ryu_ … isk_3.html). I did a bit of research on the web, and found out that there are 4 volumes split in 10 cds. However I was unable to find any shop selling these. Maybe they are out of print? Any idea?
All the best,
Nicolas

Hello NicoSensei,
Kariya sensei owns a series of 3 CDs called Tozan-ryû honkyoku - kihongata taisei, wich contains of course Asa no umi and Asa midori. I'm sure he'll accept to lend them to you.
You can write to me in French by MP... I'll see Sôzan tomorrow evening.
