After weeks of blowing into a piece of PVC waste pipe I received my Perry Yung 2.6 Earth Model Shakuhachi. As an absolute beginner this is my first Live recording with the 2.6 .

This is an Experimental composition, I hope that it will not cause any offense.

I'm a bit confused about what constitutes a "live recording". Do you mean that you recorded yourself playing and then edited the resulting sound together with other samples? Or is it all played live with no tweaks? At least few parts sounded like there was some very heavy reverb going on past where the blowing seemed to stop. As for the other sounds, are those digital or did you have other instruments / players on the recording as well?

"Live" or dead, I enjoyed it.
Good for you for posting it, Dust.

Agreed. I'm mostly curious since I have some experience with similar stuff and started to wonder what went on behind this. I think we could use more recordings around here.

It is easier to describe the Chain -
Sole sound source = Dust blowing into Perry Yung 2.6 Earth Model.
Mixer Inputs = 2 condenser microphones, mono at the blowing edge & stereo at the root end.
Mixer Send > Effects Chain =
1. DigiTech Wammy - set to bend input note down 3 octaves [in real time].
2. Akai Head Rush E2 - set to Tape Echo mode.
3. Akai Head Rush E2 - set to Looping Recorder mode.
4. Akai Head Rush E2 - set to Looping Recorder mode.
5. Akai Head Rush E2 - set to Looping Recorder mode.
6. Akai Head Rush E2 - set to Digital Delay.
7. electro-harmonix MUFF'n - Off.
8. electro-harmonix HOLiER GRAiL reverb - set to Hall.
9.A R T TUBE MP - preamp.
Effects Chain > Mixer Return.
Mixer Output > MacBook > NINJAM [software].
NINJAM [software] > NINJAM [server] - via internet [this enables up to 8 ppl. to listen or join in [jam]]. [No one joined in.]
NINJAM [server] > NINJAM [software] - this allows you to mix [in real time] the original signal with the returning siginals from the server and is set to record to a single stereo track [ogg] on the MacBook's hard drive.
Ogg > wav - for monitoring, fade in - fade out and adjustment of overall volume.
wav > mp3.
I hope that this is not confusing..

Hey Dust, Wow! I dig it!
I'm always humbled and awed by what people do with my flutes. I always say once you connect with it, there's no end to what you can discover. The amazing thing is that every connection is unique. Every recording that was sent to me from all over the world has been totally different. Thank you for for sharing this intimate process.
Keep exploring. I've love to hear more.
A deep bow, Perry

I apparently missed when this was first posted so I didn't hear it till now... Nice recording! Sounds as if it would be a perfect fit for a Kubrick or early von Trier. Great ambiance.
