During my first week of experimenting with my homemade instrument I've been looking for the correct embouchure. While I believe I've managed to nail it, consistency is sorely lacking. This shows as "false starts" in robuki, where the first couple of seconds of a long tone are usually spent trying to find the tone, or rather, first finding a tone and then sliding up into pitch...
I determined that even robuki practice is premature before I can bring the flute to my lips in such a way that the correct tone immediately emerges. So:
1. Pick up flute.
2. Bring flute to mouth while forming embouchure.
3. Blow ro just long enough to determine if the pitch is clean and would sustain solidly.
4. Remove flute from mouth and unform embouchure completely.
Rinse and repeat 19 times, keeping score.
This should be good for consistency in forming embouchure and for getting the flute to immediately find the right spot on my face.
My record so far is 6 out of 20.
