New member from Rochester NY

Hello,

I was directed here by someone on another forum. I am a flute player. I play a native american flute. I am very interested in Shakuhachi flutes. I have attempted to replicate the sound on my NA flute but it is not quite right. So within a few months I plan on purchasing one. My ultimate goal is to play it at ceremonies.

Thanks,

Joe

Hey Joe,

Welcome.

Not sure if you know this already , Ronnie Seldin has a dojo in Rochester, several of his students live here.

Absolutely not!

Does he offer lessons? If you have any information where to find him that would be great!

Thank you!

Golgofrinchian,
I would recommend holding off emailing Ronnie Seldin at this time as he is in the hospital. There are several other teachers in your area, who are students of Sensei Seldin. If you look under the topic relating to finding a teacher, I am sure you will find one.
BTW, cool screen name, I, too, am a big Douglas Adams fan. I also happen to like NA flute very much.

Re: New member from Rochester NY

Thanks for the welcome. I will have to look up the teachers in my area. Sorry to hear he is sick.

My screen name is actually a mistype. Being I have used it for years and didn't know it, (supposed to be golgafrinchian) it is how I always seem to have it available. Like when I register for a forum or email or whatever. Most likely due to the misspelling smile.

I used to go by Slartibartfast or Zaphod but quite often those were taken.

Thanks for the welcome!

Joe
