Well, not quite what I was saying. You left out the second half of my sentence.

Re: Maybe we shouldn't go here....

I'm a bleeding heart liberal, socialist-ish, and I'm helping out the Obama campaign...er, when I'm not practicing tsu meri.  I'm pleased to see that he's doing well in the primaries and caucuses.

I have sparred on many a forum about politics, and don't do it that much anymore--I am pleased to report that olive branches have been exchanged with one of my former conservative nemeses.  We can talk on common ground, and by 'we', I mean 'just about everyone'...well, except for hardline religious fundamentalists.  Those people, I can't reach on any rational plane.

Re: Maybe we shouldn't go here....

A thought from DownUnder.

Being that historically in the US power has and still is held by the White Male, the Democrats may be courageously or foolishly heading in the wrong direction to eventually win this election. Distracted by the present 'Non-white' or 'Female' contender, either one will be on their back foot when they face the 'White Male' Republican. Both parties, Democrats and Repubglicans want to shed the country of the Bush regime so will be playing for the middle ground, but it may be the White Male who gets his foot in the White House door.
There is a notion that elections are lost by the encumbent, not won by the contender, the Republicans may win this one simply by putting up a White Male as their representative. End of Game.

Kel.

Re: Maybe we shouldn't go here....

It's not the president but the people he brings with him/her into the office that counts the most.  I just hope who ever wins (Obama!) can lure in a great administration (someone like Greenspan is despertly needed as is a real Attorney General- a lawyer for the people, not an administration.) Would Mcain do this? Or would he owe too many favors?
VOTE VOTE! For your local state reps, judges, congress folk tec....we have to hold ourselves responsible by not just voting for the President...right?

Ultimately, you have the slim opportunity to influence which ride you'd like to go on at the amusement park. In any case, you'll end up clenching your teeth so you don't bite your tongue off on whichever ride is most popular.

Tairaku for President!

I don't even live in America! Hmmmmm......maybe that's a good idea.

I wrote Sun Ra in one year for President.

I wrote Sun Ra in one year for President.

I voted for Ralph Nader one year with roughly the same effect.

I am going to vote for Obama, but I feel that his presence in the election is really a distraction from how limited we really are in our choices.  He seems different because we have never had a Black American president, but much of the rhetoric in which the two party system seems to be ensnared seems to be firmly entrenched in this elecetion.

Tairaku,
I have the utmost confidence that you would make just as fine a candidate as Sun Ra.
