Americans coming to the Festival
I should have posted this earlier but if any Yanks could bring me A1 Steak Sauce or Heinz 57 that would be appreciated. These savage Aussies don't have proper steak sauce. They put Vegemite, quince paste, emu oil and other weird stuff on their (overcooked) steaks. Proper BBQ sauce like KC Masterpiece would also be delightful.

When my wife and I visited her cousin in Brisbane a few years ago, we were specifically asked for D.L. Jardine's - BBQ Sauce.
Mark Hoza, an Irish flute maker formerly from Colorado who I met on that trip, told me that real maple syrup is like gold in Oz.

Maybe pricewise but at least you can get it. In fact I just had pure Canadian maple syrup on my french toast yesterday.
Whereas A1 and Heinz 57 are not even marketed in Australia. I wrote emails to both Heinz and Kraft (manufacturer of A1) and they said they determined it was not appropriate for the Australian market. WTF? Knobs! 
Proper Boston style baked beans are likewise unavailable. They eat those tomatoey English style ones. 
They also don't have good dill pickles.
They put Vegemite on everything. They make ice cream sundaes with Vegemite instead of hot chocolate. They use Vegemite for toothpaste. When they send their kids to school they comb Vegemite through their hair like gel.
On the other hand I can walk down to the beach and haul up some lobsters and abalone and munch on them!

No but they have other proper Worcestershire sauces including some boutique ones.

I don't know how to make A1 or Heinz 57, but regular BBQ sauce is pretty easy to conjure on the stove. Give a man a fish, teach a man to fish ...

I get the lemon juice from lemons usually and then throw the wedges into the sauce while it heats. The oil from the zest of the lemon gives some good flavor.

Anyway there was a happy ending to this traumatic tale of condiment woe. Nyoraku and John Singer brought me some A1 and Heinz 57.
