Debut CD - Sound of the White Phoenix- Josh Smith

Hey everybody,
My solo debut album called "Sound of the White Phoenix"(Hakuho-on) is finally ready. I've been working on it for some time now.  I still have to upgrade my myspace, but the 2 honkyoku on my site were redone, hopefully improved wink for the CD.  It is a CD of traditional solo pieces and my own solo compositions.
Traditional songs: Yamagoe, Sagariha, Sokkan, Tamuke.
Originals: Bright Moon, Night Wind, Lullaby of Katsuragi, White Phoenix and Mysterious Moon.
There is also my version of the song, Lullaby of the Chugoku Region. Both Jiari and Jinashi shakuhachi were used, including sizes from 1.6 to 3.2.  Currently, I am set up for payment through paypal (in the 'Sounds Like' section) of my myspace page (see below), but contact me if you would like a different payment method. It is 2500yen (they convert the rate automatically) and shipping and handling is included. In the future I plan on making a downloadable version as well through cdbaby. I'lll keep you posted.
I hope some of you out there find it interesting.

Re: Debut CD - Sound of the White Phoenix- Josh Smith

Sound of the White Phoenix by Josh Smith is expressive and plaintive... with a subtile blend of traditional and new compositions. Josh's inspirational playing evokes feelings of.. sadness, aloneness, contemplation, peace, strength, passion, nature & awe.

The shakuhachi has been recorded in a way that it does not sound harsh but remains powerful... [from a whisper to a scream], with the right amount/lack of reverb.

As a composer for shakuhachi [and a shakuhachi player], Josh Smith has a voice that reaches across time... with a passion and a deep respect for tradition.

No CD collection should be without a copy.  smile
