Greetings from Maine

I've been playing for about 2 hours now, and have already gained a wonderful appreciation for the Shakuhachi.  I play many other brass, wind and string instruments, and this is quite unique.  I hope that through this board, I will learn how to play better and learn the history of this fine instrument.

Re: Greetings from Maine

Hi Matt, welcome to the board and the shakuhachi. You'd be wise to hook up with Nyokai for an introductory lesson, he knows how to play and much history and philosophy of shakuhachi as well.

And besides, he's a pretty decent bloke in the bargain...
