Ikaegeshi on Jiari flutes.

Hi All,

Does anyone have a Jiari 1.8 which has an Ikaegeshi? Did this affect the sound at all?

Thanks, Sean.

An ikegaeshi functions mainly on jinashi flutes to create a certain optimal diameter, generally close to 2cm plus or minus, in the blowing end of the bamboo.

On a fully jiari flute, the opening is MADE to that diameter, and the bore is filled with ji to accomplish that, and often you will see a crescent piece of filler, usually bamboo, glued to the inside of the bore opposite the blowing edge, if the opening can't be made small enough without it (as with an ikegaeshi) before filling with Ji. I have an Ichijo 1.8 like that.

In sum, I don't think 'ikegaeshi' and 'Jiari' really go together.

It takes effort to attain nothingness.
And then what do you have?
Bupkes.
