East Winds Ensemble will present a unique and exciting concert of Shakuhachi, Koto and Taiko music in New York City in a very unique setting on October 17th, 2008. Two masters of Japanese music lead the group: Masayo Ishigure and Marco Lienhard. The concert will take you on a journey into the soul of old and modern Japan. East Winds Ensemble has infused a fresh breath of air into Japanese traditional music and their passionate and energizing performances have been acclaimed all over the world by audiences of all ages.
An exciting program full of new compositions and traditional compositions performed by Masters of international renown, who have performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, appeared on numerous TV programs (Regis and Kathie Lee, ESPN, History channel, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS specials, etc). They have recorded for many movies (Memoirs of Geisha, Wrath of Gods, etc.) and several CDs including their best selling album music of Hayao Miyazaki’s movies (such as Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, etc.).
