Ken,
Have you heard of any members experiencing the need to login twice to post? If I login once and refresh, all topics/posts are still green. A subsequent, 2nd login, changes the green to blue, allowing the post/edit/delete prompts to become visible.
This has been the case for many months--just now getting around to asking. I couldn't find any reference to it on the site.
Weird...

Thanks for bringing this up Derek.
This has happened occasionally to forum members. The easiest way to fix this is to change your bookmark address for the foum. For example, if your present bookmark address is: www.shakuhachiforum.com, you'll need to change it to: shakuhachiforum.com.
To do this just delete your bookmark, type in the new address in your browser address bar, then bookmark the site. This seems to work for people.
It's possible for me to go in the forum files and change prefixes around but that can get complicated. Plus, it would mix up forum members who have already made adjustments. So, perhaps the roundabout fix is best.
I hope this makes sense. Let me know in this thread if it works. That will be helpful for others who experience the same thing.
Best,
Ken

hehehe...
These two logins required used to make me think twice before post...

Derek, thanks for asking.
Mujitsu, thanks for the response.
Just did the delete/re-bookmark thing and it worked.
Thought for a while there that I had more bugs in the machine than I knew about.

I've noticed the same thing. When I tell the computer to remember my password, it doesn't happen. I am using Vista. I am not sure if that makes a difference.
I hope everyone is voting today!

After poking around the forum infrastructure I may have found an easier fix to the double log in issue than I first suspected. It may be a matter of changing the base URL once. (That's a big MAY) Now, should I make the change and it works, everyone who has changed their bookmarks would need to change them back to the original URL which includes the www. prefix: www.shakuhachiforum.com
Can we get a consensus on how widespread the double log in issue is? Obviously, I'd like to inconvenience the least amount of members with whatever action is taken.
Many thanks for your participation.

Ken,
I've had to double log in from the begining.

Ummm ...
It takes about five seconds to log in again. Is it really such a big deal?

With the www the problem continue to me...

YAY!! That worked! Thank you so much, Ken!
I use Roboform for all of my different logins and wasn't sure if it would accept that change or not. It did, and I'm now saving 7 calories per year (that's one shoeshine pass on a root)!
Huge thanks...

I've never had to do a double login. (I'm using FireFox, if that makes a difference.)

It was no trouble at all to change the bookmark (Firefox). It should therefore be no trouble to change it again. Whatever is best for the group, and will cause the least number of gremlins to appear in the system 8^)

Thanks to everyone who responded on and offline.
I'll try changing the base URL as a test. This may help those who are stuck with a double log in. It may also help alleviate some issues I experience when updating the forum. If it causes more problems I'll change it back.
Let's give it a little time to see if it works then I'll make another announcement. Then we can all adjust our bookmarks.
Thanks to everyone for your patience!

Update:
After changing the base URL I've found that I can now sign in on the first login with or without the "www" prefix in the address of my bookmark. Hopefully, this will be the case for other members as well.
I'll keep things this way unless I hear of more problems.
Thanks everyone! Back to shakuhachi.

Ken,
I had to add the WWW back in now, to be able to login on the 1st attempt. I think it makes more sense this way, however, since that would be the default for most users. It just means some, or most, of those who removed the "www" need to add it back in.

Thanks Derek. Yeah, some may have to change back to make it work. Hopefully this will solve the problem for those who have never been able to login on the 1st attempt.

Whew! Thought I was going nuts again. Changed it back, seems to work ok. Thanks for sorting all this out.

Ken,
I can now log in with single try.
Thanks
