amplifying a shakuhachi

Hello everyone,

I hope I post that at the right place...

I would like to find some material to amplify my flute for playing with other powerful instruments (drums/sax...).
I have an amplifier which is basically made for acoustic guitar and voice (AER 60 if you know that...) that I intend to use also for my flute. Does anyone know if there are risks of damages for such an amplyfier (due to impedance issues or whatsoever...); I would also like to get a microphone, but I have no idea of which kind... could anyone help me?

all the best!

Re: amplifying a shakuhachi

hi Chris,
I use a Countryman earset microphone . Its awesome! Its great because I can change flutes & use the some mic.
You will need some kind of effect box (eq/reveber/delay & phantom power).
I use VoiceWorks from Tc Helicon (its has alot of effects)

Another good alternative (cheaper:-) is VoiceTone Create. Its around $250.
Your amp is fine.

Re: amplifying a shakuhachi

Thank you Geni,

I had a look: I suppose it is the e6? I have also seen the cheaper Isomax Headset  also from contryman. Do you know how it compares to the e6?

Re: amplifying a shakuhachi

Geni,

Specifically, which version of the E6 do you have: the E6 (directional) or the E6i (omni)?
Also which sensitivity did you choose (there seems to be three levels rated in terms of
"speaking voice")?

Thanks,

Re: amplifying a shakuhachi

I got the directional. (Omni will pick everything)Sensitivy..I got the medium one.

You should order it from a local store, so you can try it..and return it if you don`t like it.

Good luck

Geni
