New recording (AJIKAN) posted

I recorded AJIKAN (played on a 2.0 SHAKUHACHI) and posted it on my myspace player (and facebook profile).

I would like to invite all of you to check it out and comment on it.
Thank you all for reading this and listening to my music.
Have a nice day!
Mike

I wish I would have found this instrument much earlier in my life. But I didn´t know that I was searching for it all those years.

Re: New recording (AJIKAN) posted

Mike,

I enjoyed the piece Mike,  especially, since my longer flute is a 2.0 and, Ajikan was the first Honkyoku my teacher gave me.  Its one ive not heard played a lot, so i enjoy hearing different palyers interpretetations.

The notation we have is a version that is longer (Tozan) with some 4 lines of notation before this piece starts.  It then follows the piece you played.  I believe this was an addiditon made by Nyozan in his later years when he devoted himself to that piece.

Thanks for Sharing Mike, I always enjoy giving your playing a listen.

sounded nice.

I liked that Kurahashi clip you added.  That is one bad-ass shakuhachi player.  The guy puts a lot of energy into that performance.  I'm all tingly.

Ken,

thanks for your comment! I think that working on AJIKAN as your first HONKYOKU piece must have been a real challenge.

Lorka,

thanks to you as well!

It's true. The video clip on my website shows that KURAHASHI Sensei does not only put his ENERGY into his performance - he puts HIMSELF into it.
