Shakuhachi Hanko Data Base

Greetings All,
I have just uploaded the initial version of a shakuhachi maker's hanko listing on
my website..  Just follow the link "Shakuhachi
Hanko Database" from the front page.
This is a work in progress and I eventually want to get it to the point where people
can freely input data without having to go directly through me.  Kind of wiki style.
As it is, in order to input or edit data, whether text or image, you will have to contact
me by e-mail .
If you would like to be able to edit info, just let me know and I'll register you as an
editing member.  This should give you editing rights.
You'll notice that at the bottom of the list, there are several 'unknown' hankos.  If anybody
has any information about these, I would appreciate it very much.  Aside from what is listed,
if you have any photos of hankos that aren't listed, either with or without information, and would
be willing to send those to me for inclusion, you would be doing us all a great service.
I look forward to developing this list for everybody's use.
cheers.

Thanks Bruce.  I feel the same and it will certainly become so with all of our effort.

Re: Shakuhachi Hanko Data Base

I just wanted to sincerely thank Bill Fletcher for supplying many of the photos of hankos that exist on the data base and to Zakarius in Taiwan for helping with the kanji.  Should any of you feel up to contributing, I welcome you.  And to any others, please stop by and have a look.  I welcome any suggestions.
cheers

Jeff, Great work!

I'm going to try to contribute to your database but I'm so slammed right now.  I should have some in a couple of weeks.

Re: Shakuhachi Hanko Data Base

I always thought the lower part under the trident was an assemblage of J N for John Neptune

Could be wrong though?

Yup. And he's a surfer dude; thus the trident.

Benjamin - I believe that John was killing two birds with one stone by styling his intitials into the kanji for mountain which is the ending to most Tozan player's names.

Perry - thanks so much for the kind words.  I'll definitely appreciate your and any other input to our database.
