Obviously blowing prolonged Ro buki in a prone position in a bamboo grove is not the best idea.

If you are able to blow RO while lying prone on any surface, we all want to see the video.

It looks like a nice back scratcher though.

I was not conscious whether I was riding on the wind or the wind was riding on me.

Re: Where bamboo may be hazardous to your health:

Since I ripped out the hamstring in my right leg and smashed up my left knee, blowing Ro buki in the prone position has been my only option. However, I am doing so on my love seat with an ottoman in my livingroom rather than in a bamboo grove. I am gradually moving towards Ro buki in a sitting position and someday hope to return to seiza. I do no have a video camera.

Re: Where bamboo may be hazardous to your health:

Oh the things one reads on this list that causes one to stop what one is doing and go try. A sitting 35 second Ro is no problem. A 27 second Ro lying on my back is a struggle, and it appears to be due to a combination of pressure on the back, and working against the weight of the flute since gravity is now trying to push the instrument into the mouth. Interestingly, and counter-intuitively, lying on my stomach allows an easy 35 second Ro. Same result lying on my side, (either), 35 seconds. No, I'm not about to try this in an inverted position. I'll leave that to one of our yogameisters or someone with one of those ankle-hanging devices. No doubt one of our resident anatomy or pulmonary professionals will have explanations for this.

Huh, I can play Ro whilst prone.  Supine, however, would require some unusual flooring...maybe a massage table?

For the record: Prone implies face down, supine is face up.

axolotl,
Prone was accomplished laying on my wife's inflatable "bean" shaped exercise device with me face down. Other options might be; a row of chairs, a bed, or draping one's self over the end of a couch. Limited only by one's imagination and objects at hand.

edosan,
Thanks for the language clarification. I was too lazy to check when I realized my CRS syndrome was rearing its ugly head, and I couldn't discern the difference. 8^)

Hey, I have my OWN CRS to contend with (with which to contend...). That's why Google is my friend....mostly.
