And now for something completely different. Who needs a giant shakuhachi?

check it out.... i think it might be a .00018 shaku....LOL

It's better to keep your mouth closed and let people "think" that you're stupid, than to open it, and remove all doubt.

Excellent! Looks like this guy has a whole repertoire of cap tunes.
That particular tune, Aogeba Totoshi, has had a special place in my heart since the movie Tampopo. Japanese folks of a certain age know it as a school graduation song.
Great stuff. Thanks.

Am I just dreaming..... seeing ghosts.. or IS this the editor of Hōgaku Journal? Tanaka Takafumi?
Same person in the giant shakuhachi link that Abraxos posted...?
Here he is interviewing me in an event at Kyoto Station in 2007.

Haha! I almost posted this after the Giant Shakuhachi vid.

Kudos to Edosan for using the word "gravitas" and to Kiku Day for being a good detective! wink

There should be an ongoing contest to see how many things someone can make a "shakuhachi" out of!

What an amazing world.

If I can master this I'll never be allowed in the pub again.

Now THAT is amazing ! ! !
Thanks you guys for finding these amazing musicians!
How can I contact this guy? I want to go and be his guinness glass student!    lol
If I master this - I will go so much more to pubs and entertain - and perhaps someone will pay me the next glass!
Since I saw Tanaka on a water bottle cap - I have used more time blowing in caps than writing... now let's see what happens when I get my hands on a Guinness glass.... scary thought... sad
