Hi everyone,
As the new publications officer of the European Shakuhachi Society (ESS), I'd like to thank Stephanie and translators for their amazing work over the last few years.
For those whom I have not met, I am an Irish shakuhachi player, teacher and maker. We have an ever-increasing and enthusiastic shakuhachi community in Ireland. If anyone is visiting Dublin, don't hesitate to get in touch.
I am now starting to put together the October edition of the ESS newsletter and would welcome contributions from anyone who has something shakuhachi-related to share with the ESS community.
Here are some ideas:
N.B. Reviews of 2009 summer schools (Leiden and Prague) and photos. If you do not have the time to write a review a couple of lines would be great.
Concert or CD reviews.
Tell your own shakuhachi journey story.
An article about how another interest relates to shakuhachi (e.g. meditation, martial art, etc.).
Something visual: photos, drawing or composition.
An MP3/video of your playing and background information.
Shakuhachi making articles.
A learning experience with your sensei or local shakuhachi group.
An historic or academic article.
Information about upcoming events.
Please let me know if you have any ideas. The deadline for submission will be Friday, September 25.
Many thanks, Philip Horan.

There has been a great response to my call for submissions for the October newsletter of the European Shakuhachi Society. It looks like it will be based around the theme of improvisation. It's not too late if anyone has any contribution to make on this topic.
