Although I have been skimming the forum for some time, this is the first time I have registered. Living in Asheville, NC but within the month, we will be moving to the lovely port city of Cartagena, Colombia. First started on the shakuhachi under Ronnie Seldin's expert tutelage back in 1983 (?) when Ronnie was just beginning. While the majority of the class were serious music students, my main interest was as an adjunct to my zen practice. Personal matters and a quite stupid accident that cost the life of my valued shakuhachi led me astray for these two decades. Lately, however, I have renewed my acquaintance and been enjoying the daily moments of silent sound. Richard Unanue

Welcome to you!
Did a bit of research on your username, and thought the following would be interesting, even enlightening, for other forum members--certainly got my attention:

Yes, cool name, and interesting links. Welcome to the forum. I played a bit of shakuhachi while hiking up off the Blue Ridge Parkway some years back...remember stopping in at a natural foods cafe in Asheville called Max and Rosie's... Are there many shakuhachi players in NC? I met a guy a couple of years ago who was taking a bamboo flute back to the Smokies, TN, not so far away...

Thanks to all of you and your comments. We are now living in Cartagena, Colombia where, to my knowledge, there are not that many shakuhachi practitioners. If any of you have acquaintances here, do let me know. If any of you visit, enjoy one of the loveliest port cities in the world.
