I will be doing a show at the same teahouse i played last summer, Sabou Koto (wacafe "koto") in Ogikubo, Suginami-ku, Tokyo, on Sunday 2/21 at 12:30 pm.
This time I will be collaborating with an amazing violinist, Eaisung Shin (english profile http://www.bigappleshak.com/bas/bio-shin.shtml her group website http://www.dropquartet.com ) .
Anyone around Tokyo is of course welcome to come. We will be doing at least 3 duets : Fukuda Rando's "Ake No Kane", with violin in the soprano part; some of Bartok's 44 Duos(violin duets), with me doing one violin part; and an arrangement of Ryuuichi Sakamoto's "Aqua". She will also do a few solo pieces, as will I.
The teahouse's blog (japanese only) is http://blog.goo.ne.jp/coto12 If anyone wants more info, please let me know (chikukai2323@yahoo.co.jp) the price is 2,500 yen, includes tea and cake!
I met Eaisung originally at the New York International Shakuhachi Festival, where
she was performing with Yoshio Kurahashi. She quite surprisingly showed up at my show at "Koto" last summer, and so we decided to try doing something together this time. Quite an honor to play with such a superb musician.
