Online lessons

So for the past year I have been studying how to play on my own with the help of random online lessons that i have found, which have only been slightly helpful.  It was the best way for me at the time, it fit best with my busy schedule.  Now I find things have settled down and I have more time on my hands I want to become much more serious with my playing.  I would love to have a flesh and blood teacher but that doesn't seem to be an option right now, so I'm wondering if any one can recommend some good resources for me.  Either online, or books or anything that might be considered helpful.  I'd really appreciate any recommendations

Re: Online lessons

Maybe one of our "volunteers" would be kind enough to assemble a compendium of the available self-teaching methods and online resources etc. since this is a recurring question. We could make a "sticky" topic to refer people to. Any volunteers?
