I just found out that I will be playing in a number of pieces not just in Shimpo-ryu Sanya so have edited the above post. Also found out that drinks are included in the price. So eat as much nutritious Chinese food (some kind of herbal cooking from what I understand, sounds great) and drink as much whiskey and so on, as you like.

Sounds like a fun event. I hope there is some video taken.

Hope your concert goes well. I think men have to pay more because men drink more alcohol (except in Kochi, where the sexes are more evenly matched).

Justin this is very cool! Have fun! Can you get someone to shoot video, which you can post for the benefit of the masses?

Hi Brian
I was so rushed that I didn't even bring a camera, though there may be some video or pics from the audience. It was a lot of fun, especially playing the komuso "call and response" piece both dressed up in komuso gear.
I just got back a few days ago from India where I was attending the teachings of Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. I was lucky to get to play shakuhachi for the dedication offering for the closing of that event. Today off to Nagoya for a Seien-ryu honkyoku event tomorrow. Busy busy!

A picture from the event. Unfortunately haven't received one with our tengai on yet! The lady on the left accompanied us with percussion and chanting of the Heart Sutra for Hon Shirabe.
