Sabbaticus Rex in San Francisco - March 28

Sabbaticus Rex at the Switchboard Music Festival in San Francisco. Sunday, March 28, 2010.

http://www.mujitsu.com/images/sabbaticus.jpg

Karen Stackpole, gongs & percussion; Cornelius Boots, shakuhachi & Taimu-shakuhachi, throat-vocals, Mark Deutsch , bazantar.

Sabbaticus Rex is an ensemble rooted in the supremacy of sound over music, the triumph of tone over time and thought, an adventure into vibrations, a meditation on sound itself. They combine some of the planet’s rarest, most haunting and beautiful acoustic instruments and methods. Through spontaneous, sustained sound structuring, these unique sources combine to form a resonant, expansive and raw environment.

When: Sunday, March 28, 2010 AT 5:30PM

Where:  3316 24th Street (at Mission and 24th St. BART) San Francisco, CA 94110

Well they sure are prettier smile

It's kind of hidden, but if you follow the "more information" link there is the entire festival lineup complete with bio's AND soundclips. It's a Nice lineup even if you don't like shakuhachi. Although I really liked each one, I've got to say that the headline band "Mirthkon" is my favorite, with that bass clarinet duo a close second.

Very cool! Taimu taking over the world. Bassist looks like a Klingon. I did not really hear the Strawberry Alarm Clock thang though!
