Discussion 'The Future of Shakuhachi in Europe' during Prague Festival

Shakuhachi in Europe is presently experiencing a rapid development. Several shakuhachi centres have been set up in different countries representing one particular school or style in the vast repertoire of shakuhachi playing.

As Europe’s shakuhachi environment is fairly new – we have a privileged situation where we can consciously work on how the European shakuhachi scene will look in the future. Therefore, a discussion group is being organised to debate the future of shakuhachi in Europe. What are our dreams? How would we like the shakuhachi organisations and scene to take shape? How do we communicate and inform each other? How can we work on mutual respect between shakuhachi groups? How do we best create a platform where we can freely share our knowledge and love for this wonderful instrument?

All shakuhachi aficionados are invited to participate in this discussion during the Prague Shakuhachi Festival. Please come and shape the future of shakuhachi in Europe.

See more info about events at the Prague Shakuhachi Festival here: www.komuso.cz/en/festival

See you there!

Good point, Tairaku.
The discussion group will meet several times during the event so we hope we can talk in depth about issues arising. Hopefully it will be of interest to the international shakuhachi scene also outside Europe. smile
