At one point a few years a go I owned an unsigned shakuhachi that was loosely attributed -very loosely- to Yamaguchi Shiro. It was made from a rather distinctive culm of bamboo. I found this shakuhachi on eBay and swore that this shakuhachi was from the very same stand. This was a superior instrument to the attributed instrument I bought. I sold both at bargain prices. This one however had equidistant and equal sized holes. It had a reasonable amount of ji, but was very lightweight - 10.5 oz. It was very well in tune and clocked in at about A=442.
