Beyond the Rim: Asian Arts Today

Hi All,

My group SLANT will be performing as part of the Asian American Arts Festival in Dartmouth College on July 20, 2006. Please come if you are in the area and interested in how I use the shakuhachi theatrically in performance art.

http://www.dartmouth.edu/~lhc/events/20 … -arts.html

There is honkyoku mixed with contemporary music. In a staged children's television show on history and science, a shakuhachi will be made in front of the live "studio audience" as images of ancestors arriving in America plays on video.

The festival features pop culture icon Margerat Cho, MacArthur Genius grant recipeints, Eiko and Koma and a host of contemporary artists like SLANT.

We will be conducting a movement and voice workshop with flutes, hand drums and voice on July 19th.

See you there! Perry
