Two pieces of software for flute makers.

Hello fellow flute makers.
I have developed these 2 programs (for windows o.s.) one for a total beginner and one for a more advanced flute maker.
I am sharing it as a sign of gratitude for all the information and help i found in the forum.
The link below is to a folder in my Dropbox containing all the necessary files needed to run the 2 programs. I hope you enjoy it.

Re: Two pieces of software for flute makers.

Hi!
I was experimenting on nay making and found an interesting relation between the shakuhachi and the nay.
I made a test of the untested "Nay" method (which now can be claimed tested) just to  experiment. Tuning was made from a fingering chart on the pentagram for a nay, the fractions of microtones are a bit hard to tune as i cant play the nay way but blow as if its a shakuhachi, so i cant be sure if i did the tuning ok.

So i compared it with a shakuhachi of about same length and in "A" tonic, visually.
(there are minor errors in the fingerhole positions of the shakuhachi and a major "error" which is the ultra thin bore)
But feel it plays ok for a beginner makers flute and for meditative purposes.
Also this isnt a proper nay bore profile  as its missing 2 nodes in between the three sections of this bamboo, so traditionally you would need 8 nodes.

The observation is as you see in the pictures all the front holes of the shakuhachi are almost at the same positions as the 2,4,6,and back hole of a nay.
The remaining note , the octave is not present on the nay , so you have to play it by blowing the second register and all holes closed.
And so i did a sound check. I managed to play with shakuhachi fingerings on the nay and the first octave was "identical" on both instruments (The "A" min-pentatonic).

Re: Two pieces of software for flute makers.

I have just updated the "Shakuhachi - Hole Calculator.exe" file because of an error i found
at show text where for first octave tuning of note6 (highest) the calculation was wrong.

Also i would like to add that these numbers will work best as long as the bore profile used to make the model is (if not identical)
very close to the bore you want to work on

finally because this software is offline you have to download the new file , delete the old and move the new in its position.
