A while back we had a shakuhachi made of kelp. Well, here is one better. A shakuhachi made of sausage. This fellow actually makes it, then plays "When the Saints go Marching In" and "Amazing Grace" on it!

Amazing - I don't really consider chikuwa sausage, although I'm not sure of the exact definition of 'sausage' either. Certainly sausages are not normally hollow
I will have to try this next time I'm in Japan. I wonder if his was already cooked. It's pretty soft - surprised it had playable high notes.

Unbelievable!
I'm thinking we'll probably see these things show up on Ebay.
Being a vegetarian, maybe I'll hollow out a zucchini and give it a whirl.
Wow! All this just before Christmas. Great gift ideas!
Thanks for sharing, It's the best laugh I've had today. Of course it's still early.

The chikuwa I usually find in the market are about half as long and about two thirds the diameter of what he is using. This might be an example of the more esoteric "hocchikuwa."

The folks over on Chiff&fipple Irish flute forum got a big kick out of that, thanks.
