Lip Balm or Not

I'm just curious about the use of lip balm to keep the lips moist during play.

Is this a common practice with professionals? If so, what kind is recommended.

I don't want to use anything that would damage the  bamboo.

Re: Lip Balm or Not

I like Lip Ivo, which is available in some Walgreens and Rite-Aids, but it's not a common item.

I like it because it's not at all sticky. Been using it playing (and periodically during the day--I'm in Utah, after all...) for 16 years with
no damage to flutes. Doesn't have lots of 'extras' in it.

Best to order it online:

     http://lipivo.com/

         US$13.00/dozen for original formula (my preference; I'm a fuddy-duddy).

US$15.00/dozen for the aloe vera formula (haven't tried it...).

A dozen should get you through 2-3 years.
