Another hello from Taiwan!

I registered a few months ago but only recently made my first posts here (trying to spur some activity in the reviews section). I'm new to shakuhachi, only having gotten my first instrument (a low-end 2.4) in early 2006. I commissioned a longer flute (3.3) and grabbed a 2.5 from an eBay auction by the same maker.

My first interest in this type of music came from watching countless kung-fu & samurai movies -- many such flicks have someone sitting by a waterfall or a dramatic mountain overlook playing a style of music I find really 'deep'. I only bought my first few shakuhachi CDs about a year ago and instantly fell in love with the music. Not only this, but I find the deep breathing from my daily practices really helps defeat the frustration I gather from the insane traffic here in Taiwan.

Oh, yeah... I'm an English as a second language teacher here in Taichung, Taiwan. Happy blowing!
