Shakuhachi workshop New Zealand
I have organised what is probably the first Shakuhachi making and playing workshop to be held in New Zealand, Aotearoa, from the 6th to the 14th January 2007
It is titled "The Breath of Awakening" and will take the form of a retreat looking at the healing power of Shakuhachi practice.
We will be making flutes from black bamboo (phylostichys nigra) I have already dried, though we will go to the grove and cut some fresh culms to see where it comes from.
It is a hands-on practical workshop and I am very excited about this exploration.
