Who could play shakuhachi better?

1. Batman (Christian Bale) or

2. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.)  ???

Let's have a head count.

Re: Who could play shakuhachi better?

Both Downey Jr. and Bale are capable at portraying psychotic characters, and thus possess the artistic/creative juices to master the shakuhachi. However, Downey Jr.'s previous record of substance abuse leads me to believe that he lacks sufficient willpower to stick with the long hours of practice necessary to really excel. I'll have to go with Christian Bale as the potentially better player.

I got to disagree.  I think Downey jr. has hit rock bottom with his substance abuse, and therefore knows the benefits of discipline in a way that most could never fathom.  I go with Ironman.

Tairaku,

Will this be your answer all the threads from now on?

Re: Who could play shakuhachi better?

Batman probably has a greater appreciation of the natural sounds the shakuhachi is capable of due to his long association with bats.  Being well versed in various East Asian martial arts, he may possibly be familiar with some of the secret komuso defense techniques using shakuhachi.  On the other hand, Iron Man may have some potential in the flute making department due to his suit making experience; perhaps he could develop a nonrusting metal flute.  Nothing beats bamboo, however.

So, Tairaku, dude. Is that a picture of some roasted flying bush delicacy which you enjoy with the Taz natives on alternate Sundays, washed down with 60-year aged eucalyptus gin?

If so, I take that as a vote for Batman.

Are you starting a Cult of the Kneeling Chicken"? Did you train the chicken to kneel down in front of you as you prepared to cook it?

Between freezing up in the atmopshere to being a vigelante in the Middle East, Iron Man had better keep his Shakuhachi in a plastic bag or two.

My vote is Batman. He's always on top of a building introspective and quiet when he's not kicking a**.

Neither Daffy nor Donald nor Howard are choices, here.

It's Batman or Iron Man.

Re: Who could play shakuhachi better?

OK, here's how it goes down:
Yes, Batman has more soul and will probably be the better player.
But both he and Tony Stark are inveterate tinkerers who can't leave well enough alone.
Tony will devise an 8-holed titanium shakuhachi that, at the push of a button, will play the worlds fastest and cleanest version of Flight of the Bumblebee. He will become known as the Kenny G of shakuhachi.
Bruce wayne will turn his shakuhachi into an effective method for delivering tranquilizer blow-darts (Bat-Darts?). Imagine his shakuhachi as part of his utility belt....
High above Gotham you can hear his muraiki...

Re: Who could play shakuhachi better?

It has to be Iron Man for the simple logistics of accompaniment.  Just think, all kinds of cool folks could sit in with him; Spiderman, Reed Richards, The Hulk, Wolverine, Silver Surfer, Dr. Doom, the personnel possibilities are mind-boggling.

Bat Man would be stuck with all those DC geeks, like Aquaman, Superman, and Green Lantern, because of the copywrite and publishing restricitions.
