4th Annual Jinashi Shakuhachi Making Workshop at Bamboo-In

Dear shakuhachi friends,

Just a last minute reminder of "4th Annual Jinashi Shakuhachi Making Workshop at Bamboo-In" September 6-7, 2008, less than a week away!

Visit: http://www.bamboo-in.com/about-us/Summe … kshop.html

This workshop offers the most concentrated learning experience in constructing your own Japanese bamboo meditation flute. It also features a very special traditional Japanese music concert by shamisen and koto master Tomoko Yamaguchi on September 5th, at the Seaside Centre, Sechelt BC, Canada. The Sunshine Coast's own Alcvin Ramos will be accompanying her on shakuhachi. Special appearance by Shugetsu Yamaguchi on shakuhachi as well.

This year's workshop continues to teach and refine one's skills in crafting jinashi shakuhachi flutes. Our goal is no less than to make your "jinashikan-making workshop" experience the most interesting and educational weekend you will spend in constructing hocchiku this year! Beginners and advanced students are welcome. The workshop will be lead  by maker, Shugetsu Yamaguchi from Nara. Participants will be trained in all steps of the hocchiku making process, with a special section on binding a shakuhachi. All tools will be provided as well.

You will experience the great joy of creating your own hocchiku with your own hands under the guidance of one of Japan's top shakuhachi makers, putting you directly in the creation process of your personal, shakuhachi meditation instrument. You will understand and know on a deeper level how perfect and beautiful madake bamboo is for making a flute and be inspired to deepen your releationship with the shakuhachi and its playing like you've never experienced before. You will leave with a great feeling of satisfaction and pleasure from making your own flute, as well as a full belly from all the great food!

It is going to be a wonderful and delicious weekend. We hope to see you there!
