Shakuhachi "Autumn Summer" Camp of the Rockies coming soon!!!

Shakuhachi Camp of the Rockies, October 9-13, 2008

This year's Shakuhachi Summer Camp of the Rockies, which takes place October 9-13, 2008, will be fabulous, being the 10th annual in the US since it started in 1999!! Autumn in Colorado is a beautiful time, and a great time to focus on music, with crisp clear air, great communal dining and lots of sunshine, or snow dustings, or both!
Go to http://www.shakucamp.com to check out details and register before it's to late.

This year, Shakuhachi Summer Camp of the Rockies has been plagued by seasonal disorders! It was held in the Winter in Sydney Australia, July 2-4, and now in the Autumn in Colorado!  Well, variety is the spice of life. We'll get Spring in there soon enough!

For you shakuhachi lovers around the world without regular teachers, Shakucamp offers you enough materials and direction to keep you going for months, if not for the whole year. Come to camp, spend four full intensive days, studying, discussing, listening, learning, practicing and performing, and then return home with a treasure trove of experience, new knowledge, and new material.

Pieces are studied in great depth, not skimmed over. You will OWN the music, and leave Camp with pieces you can play for life.

For total beginners, we offer a program that combines the talents of the four masters at jump-starting your shakuhachi experience. This also gives you a chance to discover or deepen you understanding and appreciation of that particular style, genre, repertoire and/or teacher that appeals most to you.

And for all, you will be welcomed into an extended shakuhachi community of teachers and students all over the world as we study and play together at Sunrise Ranch, Loveland, Colorado, USA.

There are a few spaces left!

However, this special event cannot happen without your participation, and if it does, and you don't come, you will regret it!!.

A glance at the website (http://www.shakucamp.com) at the teaching selections offered by this year's Sensei (Gould, Kakizakai, Kurahashi and Wheeler, with string and voice by Yoko Hiraoka) will give you a sense of what you stand to miss if you don't jump on the bandwagon soon.

Additionally:
1. Morning Ro-blowing will have new additions to improve your sound and musicality.
2. Sydney World Shakuhachi Festival 2008 participants and faculty will share photos, stories and sounds from this fabled event.
3. Regular camper and WSF08 participant Elliot Kallen will be coordinating Duet Night and sundry socializing events.
4. The camp will feature both group and private lessons and lots of exciting ensemble opportunities.

Hope to see you there!
Cheers,
david
