Hello

Hi,

I'm 26 years old guy from Finland and I don't know yet much about shakuhachi but I'm about to start playing it. I also practice zen and play guitar and study math.

Cheers.

Re: Hello

Hi Fey, Welcome to the wonderful world of shakuhach. Your mathematic mind will find it a challenge, I'm sure. Enjoy the sound-vibrations and discuss them as much as you like. smile Like we all do around here.

Re: Hello

Hi Fey,

Welcome. I also, at one time (when the great lizards walked the earth) studied Mathematics (algebraic logic).
As Paul Erdos would say, I am now "Dead" in this regard however. I've been involved with the shakuhachi
for almost 18 years now and have found it both enjoyable and very challenging. I hope you
get as much from it as it has given to me. Good luck on your journey.

Re: Hello

Hi Fey, Welcome to the Forum. I have sent a few shakuhachi to Helsinki so you are not alone smile

There is a cool book called Zen Guitar by Philip Toshio Sudo.  You can read about it here: http://www.maui.net/~zen_gtr/index.html

Re: Hello

Thank you all. I don't own a shakuhachi yet, but I'm looking for one since in december there is a shakuhachi workshop I'm attending to and I should get some practice before that. Let's see how things evolve.
