Re: Non-traditional music

Apparently my notation is not as clear as I'd hoped, so after receiving several comments/questions/requests, I've put a notation guide in the NOTA folder which has the file name "Knowtation" at the usual place:

http://www.4shared.com/dir/5119010/dc0a … aring.html

Please email me with any additions, corrections, irregularities, questions, suggestions, etc.

Wow, you DID it!

Now, for the Bach Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, and we're good to go smile

Re: Non-traditional music

I have looked over the score, and put it in the pipeline. I know, I know, you were kidding, but I think this one can work.

Re: Non-traditional music

But seriously folks, floating a trial balloon here, this tune has been in the news lately, so I thought I'd try a tri-linear version of Simple Gifts with all three notation systems, RTR, (Ro-Tsu-Re), DRM, (Do-Re-Mi), and 123 (Xiao). It's at the usual place...

http://www.4shared.com/dir/5119010/dc0a … aring.html

in the NOTA folder.

Comments and suggestions, (here or privately), are invited, please. If this works out, I'll make a TriLinear folder for this version of titles.

You are truly somethin'.....

Wouldn't you need a shakuhachi ORCHestra to properly pull it off, though? smile

Re: Non-traditional music

Properly? Properly?? Properly??? When did *that* get into the equation?  8^) It of course will require a shakuhachi ensemble and I may have to massage the bass line, but I think I can get it to work with commonly available shakuhachi lengths/keys, just like the some other ensemble pieces already posted. So, shakuhorchestra it is! (Unless it's shakuhachestra.) Always open to suggestions, serious or not, one never knows what will happen as a result.

That is such a cool idea!

As far as the audio tracks to go with some of these, considering you're getting so many downloads maybe some of those people who are proficient with reading the notation can volunteer some audio. I just started to learn notation so I searched for a tune I sort of knew and would like to play. I chose La Comparsita but don't have enough skills yet to make any sense of the notation. I think I'll have to dig up a recording to refresh my memory as to how it goes. I guess it's that old saying about if you can't sing it you can't play it taking effect. I can sing the hook, but the song doesn't start with that and I can't find it in the notation. When I get it down I'll make a stab at recording it.

Now everything that nature breeds, Doth clad itself in pleasant weeds."

Great Idea! The people with the expertise/equipment/talent/inclination can make sound files, and I can concentrate on transcription. The files can be uploaded to any of the free hosting sites (don't know the names) or I can upload them to the usual place. Let's kick this around a little and see what happens.

It seems like all the provided links are no longer online. Did someone collect these music notations and is willing to share them? smile
