Southern Marine Test Rig

Here's a picture of Cameron Robbins and I playing in trio with the "Southern Marine Test Rig". The rig is an art installation Cameron made from pipe organ tubes and other woodwind fragments with tubes running into the Derwent River. The waves force air into the tubes and create sound. This was part of the MONA FOMA festival I curated.

Re: Southern Marine Test Rig

Nice idea! Got any sound samples?
There is a beach somewhere, I don't remember where, where the steps down to the water are actually designed with some kind of internal pipes, to give a similar effect. Wave music.

Ah, here it is:

San Francisco's version, the Wave Organ, is equally intriguing (but you really have to be there at high tide).

Video of the event.

For gearheads, I am playing a Taimu 3.0, Old Myoan 2.0, Iwabue and Perry Yung 3.0 here in that order.
