Wonderful Story in the NY Times

I really enjoyed this piece in the paper. Be sure to listen to the multimedia presentation accompanying the article.

A quote from the multimedia part by Mr. Drucker speaking about playing " you come from before make it a part of what is going on.....you breath your life into it you breath the sound into it you know the proportions."

Re: Wonderful Story in the NY Times

Thanks for passing that along; a beautiful story, nicely written. The NYT still has plenty to commend it.

Here's the link for the multimedia part, in case anyone missed it. A must:

Zen is not easy.
It takes effort to attain nothingness.
And then what do you have?

Re: Wonderful Story in the NY Times

Thank you, David for the link to the article about the clarinetist Stanley Drucker.
It is indeed very inspiring to read about people with such an enthusiasm for music!
For me it was also particularly inspiring as my partner is a clarinetist in a symphony orchestra here in Denmark. Like Drucker, he also got into the conservatory at an early age and was hired in the orchestra at age 20. At age 39, he has thus been at the same post for almost 20 years. The difference is he at times looses his enthusiasm about the work. So, it was a very nice and inspiring story to pass on to him as well.
Thanks for spotting this and passing it on! smile
