Re: Nay and Shakuhachi

My question would then be “what connection might there be between the Ney and the Anasazi flute?”

The reason I bring up something so seemingly unlikely is that migrations of humans far surpass the beliefs of many anthropologists. Mayan corn proven to be grown in Egypt and Mayan structures built in Pakistan. The rabbit stick used for hunting by the Hopi is known as a boomerang in Australia and can also be found in India.

Inscriptions by Yu the Great in cave walls of the Grand Teton Mountains.

These people did not sit still.

Re: Nay and Shakuhachi

That's why I'd love to see somebody's research on it. I doubt there is a direct relationship, but ideas do travel. That much I would believe. And we already know there were travel connections. So many possibilities, so few artifacts!

Welcome ZaranisPetros,

Many on this forum enjoy and admire Nay flute.

Please note that this link to your album is 'not found'. I would like to hear your album.

Unfortunately the forum software clobbers links that include parentheses, spaces, etc. Simply select and copy the entire link, all the way through the ".mp3", and paste it in your browser's address bar.

Nice ney playing, Petros!

Re: Nay and Shakuhachi

If you look at youtube under ney you will find a man whose user name is persianney. His name is Kees and the ney seems to be a labor of love for him. He has some great "getting started" footage and does have ney to sell occasionally. Get in touch if you are interested he is a very nice man and quite helpful.

Re: Nay and Shakuhachi

I bought a ney from Kees some time ago.  He was very helpful and his prices were very good.

Thank you for suggestion but it seems to me that the persian ney is very different than the turkish ney
