Recommended tutorials

Hi all,

due to the fact, that I dont have a teacher -up to now- I´m searching for tutorials on shakuhachi learning. From Montys beautiful weg portal I know, that there are quite a lot. But buying all of the and than using just one or two seams to me like a waste of money. Can anybody recommend books which help students learning serious playing  including honkyoku pieces?

Cheers

Re: Recommended tutorials

Hi Andre

I personally like Christopher Yohmei Blasdel's and Yuko Kamisango's,The Shakuhachi A Manual For Learning. I found it very helpful while I was looking for a teacher. The first section is written by Christopher Blasdel and is a beginners guide to learning the Shakuhachi. It also comes with a separate book of exercises and a cd.The second part is written by Yuko Kamisango and is about the history and development of the Shakuhachi. There's also an appendix with alot of additional information.Good luck, I hope you find a teacher soon.

Hi Jeff,
thanks for your advice. I´ll check out Monthy´s site or amazon.com for ordering the book.
