Re: Beginner's Honkyoku Intensive

Hi Ronnie, Welcome to my hood!

Well technically, I'm in SOHA (South of Harlem) but some of us consider it Upper west side:)

Did I miss the date? I'm out of town for July but I'm always up for a shakuhachi workshop!

So the West Village Dojo is history?

Re: Beginner's Honkyoku Intensive

Hi Perry,

1- Always good to hear from you. Its been ages since you've worked with me !
2-Yes, the Village Dojo is History- and I am really happy in the new place. It looks over Riverside Park, and is easy to get to, doorman building, etc.
3- And finally, yes, I did forget the date, but have edited the posting (:-)
4-I will put you on my NYC DOJO mailing list.

It would be great to see you!
Ronnie

Re: Beginner's Honkyoku Intensive

Ronnie, Believe it or not, Ralph is having a workshop on the same day in Brooklyn and I've committed to it.
I love New York City, where else can two shakuhachi masters do workshop on the same day!
Please do put me on your Dojo list.

Hi Perry,

You're on the list.
And give Ralph my best!
I'm glad to hear that he's getting active again.

Re: Beginner's Honkyoku Intensive

Well since July seems to be the month for shakuhachi workshops in New York City, I would like to announce one I will be giving on July 18 at the Tenri Cultural Institute, W.13th St. in Manhattan. The 1:00-3:00 sesion will be on learning to read Tozan notation and playing a Tozan piece, the 4:00-6:00 session will be on playing in shakuhachi ensembles; duos, trios possibly quartets. Combined with this will be the Sunday, June 19th Honkyoku morning concert starting at 11AM. All workshop participants will perform in the concert. $80 total for the workshops and concert. Please email or call me if you would like to join.

Re: Beginner's Honkyoku Intensive

If you've never been to Tenri, the gallery is a great place to hear and play shakuhachi!

Nyoraku-san, thanks for the invite. Does the $80. include the cost of the plane ticket?
