Hello everybody,
I´m another shakuhachi addict from Brazil. I'd like to say that this forum is really great (I´ve been bugging in for a while and I´ve learned a lot from reading the posts here).
It's amazing to see such a great variety of people from all over the world having become a close family (in all aspects) because of one ancient instrument. I try to imagine each of you leading totally different lives in totally different places: big polluted metropolises, small towns where you can still smell what's left of forests, or a distant exotic shore. And then there's that moment when RO is blown - wherever you are - and suddenly it's clear we are all from the same grove.
I´ve been playing for about a year, and let me tell you - my girlfriend has found some serious competition =P. I started taking lessons with Márcio Valério (I met this guy totally by chance in a CD shop, back in my hometown, in the countryside of São Paulo, looking for a certain acoustic punk rock cd). Márcio plays Tozan and his teacher was Shiuzan Saeki. Aside from that, I´ve just started taking introductory Dokyoku lessons with Matheus Ferreira, who spent some time in Canada and Japan and has taken lessons with Alcvin Ramos and Kakizakai Kaoru. Matheus has also taken lessons with Danilo Baykyo Tomic, who studied with Iwami Baikyoku V for 20 years.
I´m still studying Tozan, but Dokyoku has definitely a strong appeal to me. Watazumi is outrageous, dude. But I want to learn Kinko too. Baby steps to jiari. Baby steps to jinashi. Baby steps to nut house. 8P
As Henrique already knows (fala cara, beleza? Finalmente apareci! rsrs) Marco Lienhard is coming to Brazil (thanks to Matheus!, who is producing the event) to perform and give a workshop for beginners and intermediate students on July 15th (performance) and 18th (workshop). It will be a great opportunity to meet Henrique and other shakuhachi players from here, and we are sure going to have fun. Hey, I hope more of you guys wil lcome visit us in the future.
Well, this is a little about my shaku-story. I1m really glad to have joined the forum! Now I must shut up and blow Ro.
Cheers!
