If you haven't seen this movie, I highly recommend it.  It starts out with a nice version of Hon Shirabe or Choshi or whatever.

That is Miyata Kohachiro, playing a 2.4. The whole soundtrack is just wonderful.

Interesting film - very much worth seeing.

I think the same director has made a 2nd film similar in concept - I forget the name and have not seen it yet.

THANK YOU!!  It's been bothering me for weeks...I knew there had been some shakuhachi music on a soundtrack that I had really liked, but I couldn't remember what film I'd heard it in.  Baraka is an excellent film.  Although the part with the baby chicks gave me nightmares.
