The National Flute Association will be holding it's annual convention in New York City Aug. 13-16 and the shakuhachi will be making an appearance. The convention brings together thousands of flutists from all over the world each year for four days of concerts, workshops, exhibitions and networking. I will be giving a hands-on introduction to shakuhachi on Sunday the 16th, introducing the challenges and beauty of shakuhachi to flutists, as well as teaching basic notation (Kinko), teaching method and sound production. I expect to see most of them spend the hour NOT making a sound, as was my first experience. Should be entertaining. Here's the link.

I think this is the same convention where I met James and started shakuhachi all those years ago. It's fun.
