What the heck is that? BTW, I checked out your website, those are some nice pictures of bamboo in various stages of becoming shakuhachi.

or, it may be the sort of fungus which grows if you NEVER use your tsuyutoshi/tsuyukiri.... (i know, yech)

I've heard that one can make an utaguchi from petrified organs or from very old circumcised foreskins.....
