I hope this link works. Does anyone recognize this hanko?

It looks like 節. (Not many hankos have only one character.)

The top of the hanko looks like shorthand for "bamboo" (chiku)
The bottom looks like "EP" which stands for Extended Play which is like a 7-inch 45rpm vinyl single, but it's really 10 inches so it can hold 4 songs. Sometimes they are 33rpm speed vinyl records and can hold 6-8 songs.
So "Bamboo EP".
Hope this helps.

No. But thanks for the laugh, (and the first part)
Rob, seriously (for a moment or two),
I can't be certain, but I'm pretty sure this is an early Monty Levenson (Tai Hei / Ku Setsu) hanko.

Pretty definitely. I have an old Monty flute which someone had bought back in the 1970's- has that hanko, just 節,or joint/node/time/season/tune.... (tons of meanings). As you can see, the newer hanko has "empty" on top of this kanji.

Yup, Glen was right.
I just got word from Monty, and he said it was def. one of his early ones. It was never properly stored, but is in excellent condition. I picked up a bag and utaguchi cover from him as well.

Yes, 節.
The root meaning is bamboo node, by extension an evenly-spaced period of time ( as the nodes are once one gets a ways up the bamboo). Chinese "festivals" (oriented towards agricultural productivity etc, so not holidays as we think of them) were spaced evenly around the calendar every half month (of the lunar calendar).
