New fingering chart

For my students I have put together a new Kinko fingering chart that I believe solves some of the problems I've encountered with other charts. Even those who study in other schools may find it helpful. Please see http://nyokai.com/fingerchart.pdf

Re: New fingering chart

Thanks. This looks to be the best fingering chart I have seen to date anywhere.

Thanks for the comments.
Feel free to pass this on to anyone or post it wherever, as long as you distribute the whole thing (the only way it makes sense).

Re: New fingering chart

Thanks to the excellent suggestions of Graham Ranft, I have changed some of the formatting on the chart and made several other structural changes. Thanks Graham! Get the latest copy: http://nyokai.com/fingerchart.pdf

This is a a great resource, Phil. Wish I'd had it 15 years ago.

Re: New fingering chart

Yes Nyokai, my thanks to you as well.  The chart is a great help to me.  I'd been spending a lot of time lately trying to figure out correct pitch for various notes. The chart really clarifies a lot of the areas of confusion that I had.

Re: New fingering chart

Glad it helped, Airin. And here's one of the great things about shakuhachi: if you ever feel nostalgic for those areas of confusion, there are always more of them just around the corner!
